Linlithgow Group Medical Practice

Repeat prescriptions

**NEW ONLINE PRESCRIPTION SERVICE AVAILABLE**

As from 1st May 2019 the practice will be changing the way in which you order your online prescription.

The new service requires an individual patient registration form to be completed.   This then allows patients direct access to their own repeat prescription list and also access to view and cancel any appointments they may have.

THE USER MUST HAVE THEIR OWN EMAIL ACCOUNT, SHARED ACCOUNTS ARE NOT PERMITTED

The online registration form can be printed off via the link below or collected form our reception desk.   The patient requesting the service must return the form personally and bring along photo ID.    After the registration is accepted the patient will receive an email detailing the next step.

Repeat prescriptions may be requested using the re-order slip that comes with your prescription, on a piece of paper or via the repeat prescription link on the website. These requests can either be handed in or posted. They can be collected either by yourself or by a representative. Your prescription will be ready for collection 48 hours later. If you prefer, we can post it back to you (you will need to provide a stamped, addressed envelope).

Please do not leave your requests to the last minute.

We are keen to ensure that patients with ongoing medical problems are monitored regularly. If the date for your next review with a doctor or nurse has passed you will be asked to make an appointment.

PLEASE NOTE PRESCRIPTIONS REQUESTED BETWEEN 6PM FRIDAY AND 8AM MONDAY WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR COLLECTION UNTIL WEDNESDAY.

Urgent Prescription Policy

Due to an increasing number of requests for repeat prescriptions to be issued urgently, priority will only be given for prescriptions that cannot be missed eg diabetic medications, inhalers, angina sprays and epilepsy medication.

Most medications can safely be missed for a few days and you may be advised that your prescription will be issued routinely.

We will not issue urgent prescriptions for items that can be bought over the counter.

If your medication cannot be missed, the item will be issued as required and available to be collected by 5.30pm.

If surgery is closed, you can take your repeat prescription counterfoil to your usual pharmacy and they can issue you with a small quantity to tide you over until your repeat prescription is issued.

Please note that in order to ensure patient safety, we do not accept any requests for medication over the telephone.
